JB and Cat's February experience:
And the rest of our February's experience:
Not cool JB and Cat, not cool at all. We hope you are enjoying your sunny holiday frolic in the tropics. Don't worry about us here in the real world. We're keeping busy stocking supplies and preparing for the imminent EMP attack.
For those who don't know, JB and Cat are on holiday somewhere in a warmer climate, in between the tropics of cancer and capricorn. I can never remember which one is north and which one is south.
I wanted to publish another blog entry this weekend, since I haven't since last weekend. I am giving myself an unwritten goal of one blog entry per week. Things could get pretty slow between book club meetings so I figured I should add something now and then in the interim. And what better topic than exposing JB and Cat for their treacherous villainy and villainous treachery!?!?
And even sadder, I am ashamed to report that I am still on page 4 of our current book. Archimedes informs me that it is good so far but she'll tell me no more. She even says if I had read as much as her, I could have added an appropriate reference on the topic of this post. Oh well, another opportunity gone by. Story of my life.
I'm off to read some more, but since it is currently 12:23 am, its possible I won't make it past page 8.
Until next time Novel Spirits :)
I will be thinking of JD and Cat as I bask in the 25 degree high on Sunday. I won't say what I'll be thinking! Envy and jealousy are so ugly.
ReplyDeleteI have finally started reading "The Road To Wellville" but I am not far enough along to comment. Admittedly since our last meeting I have read "The Orphan Train", "The Book Theif ", "All The Light I Cannot See", and "The Innocent". I can hear Baron in the background commenting with "SAY WHAT"! There are many reasons I have managed this - I'm retired, I'm a fast reader, I was on the wait list and the library called and there is not a lot on television in the evening. I can assure you that the reading will slow considerably when the weather gets warm! I'm looking forward to the next meeting and do enjoy Archimedes and Baron's posts.
We too, are envious for our previous locations as we are now back at Sugar Mountain experiencing white out snow and wind conditions! Hopefully, the weather will be improved for our next meeting at our condo.
ReplyDelete@Indy My reaction was exactly "SAY WHAT!?" You are a reading machine! You'll be all done with our current list before too long. Very well done. So what are your opinions on The Book Thief and Al the Light I Cannot See? By the way, did you get Ender's Game? I sent it priority mail (Diesel's car) to Erwin, so its very close to you. I love that book. It is what got me very interested in Science Fiction.
ReplyDelete@Cat Tons of snow here too. Rugrats' school was cancelled and Archimedes and I "worked from home". Still falling as I type.
Update: I am 26% done with The Road to Wellville right now. I'm afraid to say too much so I don't spoil it for anyone, but I must say: Dr. Kellogg's medical philosophy is quite strange. For one, why is he so obsessed with the human "exhaust system"? And second, I'll admit that now I am a little bit afraid to eat meat. I'll say no more.
I have tried to take copious notes on the books I've read that were on our list. Quite truthfully I didn't realize "All The Light I Cannot See" was on there until after I read it.
ReplyDeleteBoth books are well worth the read. As I had mentioned to Archimedes the writing in "The Book Thief" was amazing. The author definitely has a way with words. Since both deal with World War II I am hoping they are selected a few months apart.
I haven't gotten Ender's Game. I have called Diesel out on that fact. I'm anxious to read it and will have to see if my sons have read it as they both like Science Fiction. I am a little over a third through with The Road To Wellville and so as not to ruin it for others I'll reserve my views till we meet in March. Lets just say I'm struggling with it but I won't divulge what those struggles are!
