Just finished reading "San Miguel" by T.C. Boyle after having challenged myself to read another of his books. Thoroughly enjoyed the writing, characters and story line of this book! I will definitely read more from this author and I'm so glad I didn't give up after "The Road To Wellville" (sorry Archimedes). Maybe I should throw down the gauntlet for all of you to do the same!
I also wanted to thank Cat for her selection of "American Nations". Just got back from the Deep South and what I had read gave me so much food for thought!

We are a group of friends who like to read books. We decided to form a club in order to read the same books, then discuss them. Its a good excuse to get together, drink wine, hang out, eat, drink some more wine and get different perspectives on what we read. It's cool to get out of our own comfort zones by reading books we wouldn't otherwise ever read. It's fun hanging out and drinking wine together.

BOOK SAFE IDEA
Great to see everyone today at Book/Food/Drink Club. Since I am the treasurer and have now actually been given money ("A terrible decision really" -Flynn Rider from Tangled), here are a couple links to the book safes I was thinking of purchasing to hold our club money. Additionally, I downloaded a free accounting software program which I will use to track our revenue and expenses. It will be a very fun exercise and learning experience for me (yes I am serious).
So check these out and let me know what you think. I provided the $12 version and the $30 version:

Tidewater at heart
Very sorry for not posting in such a long time. I won't insult your intelligence with excuses about how busy I am and blah blah blah.
In the spirit of each of us bringing a dish to the meeting in accordance with a certain region of the book, I will selflessly accept the burden of the Tidewater folks: therefore I will just show up to the meeting and expect all of you to do all the work and serve me with food, drink and servitude. I really feel like those are my true ancestors. No? Well maybe I'll make brownies just in case.
Looking forward to seeing everyone again and I'm sorry for not posting in accordance with my unwritten goal of once a week. I won't insult you with excuses about this or that. I'm just going to try to bribe you with delicious brownies 😬😬😬
I'll try to get back on schedule with the once a week posts.
Looking forward to the meeting tomorrow!!
